The gist of the code for a high limit switch is to put it at the hottest part of the boiler, which, if not actually in a tapping in the boiler, at least puts it at the pipe where the water leaves the boiler.
The supply in a hot water system usually refers to the outlet of the boiler, as the radiators supply heat to the air, not anything to the boiler but cooler water (which is not a concern for overfiring.)
