I recently installed a Hayward 100MBU pool heater which was shipped with no pressure relief valve by the manufacturer. The installation is in British Columbia and includes NO valves between the boiler and the pool line, therefore there is no possibility of pressure build-up unless that line gets crimped or squashed or something underground, otherwise the boiler controls incorporate a flow switch, and two high limits apart from the operating thermostat. The question is "Is a pressure relief valve required on this type of installation?" I have not received returns to my calls to Hayward.
