I have an 1860's PA farmhouse, One pipe
steam heat. The house is "double plank"construction, meaning there is no air cavity between the outside
sheathing and the inside plaster.
I just finished putting R21 insulation in the
attic floor.
Would there be a cost benefit to install R21
insulation in the basement ceiling? The stone
wall foundation basement is warmed by the
steam boiler and is usually at 40-50 degrees in the
winter.
