A boiler that is not old has a warrantee for the sections to be replaced. As a leak is rarely in more than one section, it's far less expensive to replace a section than to get a new boiler and repipe. It is possible the leak is from a mis-set gasket which is simnple to replace.
Seems the big loop is an approximation of a Hartford loop in purpose; if there is no operating problem, no need to fix what ain't broke. If the loop allows noises, uneven levels, or could be a cause of the failure, then repiping as in the boiler installation sheet is a good idea.
