Spring (summer) boiler maintenance

I finally turned the pilot light out on my 25 year old Hydrotherm boiler in early June. I left my circulating pump going because I wasn't sure about standing water in the boiler and radiators. Can I shut the pump down? Should I drain the system for the summer and refill this fall?
