We replaced an old steam radiator with a refurbished unit last year. It worked great all winter. Suddenly this morning it has started moaning intermittently: a low vibrating noise almost like a cow's moo. It's similar to the groan an empty water pipe makes when a tap is turned on -- however, the water level in the boiler is fine; the noise continues to crop up whether the shut-off valve is open or closed, and whether or not the furnace is running. The radiator still seems to function fine, but the noise is definitely loud enough to be a bother. No other radiators in the house are exhibiting this behavior. Any suggestions for a semi-handy homeowner looking to diagnose and possibly solve this problem on his own? Thanks!
