Depends on WHICH relay you get (It should come with instructions.) The general idea is to have the circulator contacts of the delay relay in line with power to the pump, bypassing the usual relay that sends the electricity to the pump, then the original relay contacts that used to go to the pump go instead to the trigger mechanism of the relay, so the delay relay can be activated by the absence of the control power, then the delay relay cuts off the power to the pump.
