The life of a boiler is 50 years, give or take 50 years. The biggest determinant of life expectancy is the longevity of the seal to prevent fresh water from entering to replace a leak, corroding the boiler.

All boilers are better than 84% AFUE now and all boilers you can get at a local plumbing/heating supply that the most plumbers recommend are good. It is a novice or untrained installer that can make a great boiler into a lemon.
