We're visiting my parents for the holidays. They have an oil fired Peerless steam furnace with tankless coil for DHW. The boiler is probably 25 years old. I noticed when taking a shower today that the hot water only lasts for a minute or 2. No one else had used the hot water in a while. Does this probably mean that their tankless coil is shot? Is that a large expense to replace the coil? I'd assume it must be relatively easily removeable/replaceable. They have been just increasing the temp on their DHW to try to increase the amount of hot water they have, which is very dangerous.
Since it is only the 2 of them now, I can't see doing anything too radical like an indirect.
Thanks
