My 6-unit apartment building has an old steam boiler with 1960's controls. Heating bill is more than $2,000 per apartment (in Boston). All the condo owners say that they have turned off almost all their radiators (we, for example, use only 2 of our 8 radiators in a 2200 sq ft apt). All apt's have vent control on radiators. I'm guessing that the boiler is cycling way too often. It uses outdoor temperature; there's no indoor temperature monitoring.
I've been assigned the task of determining what direction to take -- get new controls? Replace the whole boiler? Any advice would be appreciated.
