Hi,
I have a Weil-Mclain EG-45 Natural Gas Steam Boiler (no series number, no paperwork from pervious house owner, but I would guess it is at least 25 years old). There is a small crack in the casting of the right section causing it to leak when it cools. When it is fired it is fine.
I have talked to a reputable boiler professional in my area on Friday and was given 2 options. Use a sealant to temporarily fix the leak and then replace the boiler or just replace cracked section.
Is it worth getting the boiler repaired? Are the new EG-45 boilers more efficient than what I have now?
Thanks
