Insufficient Hot Water When Heat is turned on....

I live in a rental property and I'm not exactly sure what type of heating system I have. I would assume its a steam system. My hot water was great until I started running the heat at night. Now there is a noticeable difference in water temperature after the heat has been on. Any ideas what is going on?
