My Burnham PIN4 natural gas steam boiler was recently submurged and needs to be replaced. My basemennt doesn't flood often (once every 5-10 years or so) but when it does I get over 4 feet of water. Since the ceilings are low and the system is gravity fed I can't elevate the boiler enough to avoid flood damage. Does anyone know of a durable less-sophisticated boiler option which would fare better in a flood and be repairable if it were submerged in water? My current boiler has so many electronic and sensitive parts that my plumber says it wouldn't be cost-effective to replace all that is damaged and that I have to replace it. I do want to stick with the steam system if at all possible. Thank you.
