A professional steam consultant advised me to throw away all me old vent controls and buy new ones. He said I'd much better luck balancing the system. I recently replaced all the vent controls in my system (15) with Hoffman 1A controls. Some seem to be defective, but I'm not sure. 1st, the control dial was a very poor fit, so the variable control of the air hole was essentially useless. 2nd, some of the vents condense water and shut down after a few days. I have to remove them and prou the water out. I don't think the thermostat is working properly in the valve.
Is this an accuate analysis? I'm considering removing all Hoffmans and replacing them with Vent-Rite controls, but before I do I thought I'd get some feedback.
Thanks,
Gary
