There might be a formula that a particular manufacturer of a specific pump might derive after testing the characteristics of that pump. However, the method used to arrive at the maximum loop length, gpm, and btuh is either using the ITT System-Syzer or the IBR Table 2 of the Design manual with the head and flow information in the pump manufacturer's charts.
