Since the replacement of 50/50 solder with thinner nolead solders, soldering has become trickier. Silver bearing solder is a bit easier, though more expensive. Low temperature heating of the solder is the trick, just hot enough to make a puddling liquid rather than a very hot surface so the solder falls off.
