I have a hydronic heating system with a Vaillant boiler model GA92-160. The dual psi/temp gauge which is listed as a altitude gauge in my manual is a model 2048-014. The psi part is pegged to the top at 80 psi even when the system is completely drained so I guess it's shot. Temp gauge works ok. When the boiler fires up and heats water for awhile (30-45 mins) the pressure relief valve comes on and sprays hot water/steam all over the place. This obviously isn't right. Is the broken psi gauge the problem or am I only treating the symptom by replacing it? Am I going to blow out the new gauge if I don't fix the underlying cause? What would be causing this if that's the case? Does anybody know where I can get a Vaillant gauge model 2048-014? I talked to guy at Burnham and he says they are a German company that pulled out of the US market. Anybody know who stocks their parts? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
