I have just purchased a home in Providence, RI, that was built around the turn of the century. It has an American Radiator Co. oil fired Ideal Boiler #12 steam system which I have had professionally checked out and it seems to work fine. However, I am concerned about the efficiency, safety, age and expected life span of this system.
Does anyone have any idea how old this square green enameled box of a system might be? Is it an OK system that I should be happy with for many years to come or is it an inefficient old dangerous thing that I should be saving money to replace in the near future?
