A hot water system should remain sealed until a repair problem occurs. Oxygen is the damager of the materials and bleeding introduces oxygen. Shut the valve to the automatic feed valve by the boiler; it should be opened for repairs to a loss of water in the system when the system is initially filled or the safety relief valve is checked.
The system should not have a permanent rapid drop in pressure or drip with the automatic feed valve closed. Just observe the pressure guage on the boiler periodically and note if the pressure drops; then it should be checked for a leak. The rest is the seasonal check of the burner and safeties.
