Have an old steam boiler, just fired up for the first time last week. Just bought the house this month, first time using steam heat but have been reading the forum.
Aware of need to be very careful about the water level staying up, but it looks like I overfilled it - the water is at the top of the sight guage.
Now the pipes are waking us up in the night -- is this probably due to too much water in lines??
If so --- to drain excess out and get back to proper level, do I have to do it while the burner is on and there's pressure to get all the water out?
Anything else I should be aware of in this situation?
Thanks!
