We are trying to decide which boiler and hot water heater to purchase. We live in a ranch style house with baseboard hot water heat. We are replacing a 35yr. old Hydro-Therm boiler and a 15yr. old Rheem hot water heater. At the same time we will replace the baseboard units in 2 rooms (approx. 26 feet).
Everyone seems to favor a different boiler. Which is the most dependable?
Estimate 1. Weil-Mclain CGA4 or Hydro-Therm HC-125-E boiler, A.O.Smith 40 gal. - 10yr. warranty hot water heater, Slant Fin baseboard. $4365
Estimate 2. Crown ABF105-SPD boiler, Bradford-White 40 gal.- 6yr. warranty hot water heater, Slant Fin baseboard. $3900
