Recently I moved into a new (high insulation spec) house and it is fitted with an oil fired boiler.
My problem is that all room temp is < 18 deg C even after +4 hours operation.
The system is spec'd as a 70,000 - 90,000 btu system and the boiler on/off cycle is 5 mins
on/2 mins off at full load.
Using heat loss software packages I estimate the required boiler output
(including water heating) to be 85 - 90,000 btu for the house. Does this mean my problem
a design one in that my boiler is too small (what is the boiler sizing rule of thumb?)
and if I go for a bigger boiler, will this be more economical (less on/off cycling?)?
Many thanks for any assistance.
